The Libreville – Franceville link (over 800km) takes part of the “trangabonaise” route via the RN1, RN2 and RN3 national roads.
This strategic infrastructure for the movement of people and Gabon’s socio-economic development towards the interior of the country from the political and economic capital is now the subject of a major 93km modernization project.
Rehabilitation of the first section of Route Nationale 1 (PK12 to PK105) will make traffic safer and more fluid, reducing journey times and accident risks. The road is built to exacting specifications, in line with international standards for quality and sustainability.
The project is managed by SAG, which has entrusted setec with a number of studies since 2019.
SAG (Société Autoroutière du Gabon), was created in 2019 as part of the signing of a public-private partnership (PPP) with the Gabonese government for the rehabilitation of the first section of Route Nationale 1 (PK12 to PK105), on the Transgabonaise route. Today, the company is responsible for the design, financing, construction, operation and maintenance of this section of line for a period of 30 years.
The SAG rehabilitation project also includes a major social component, with daily support for more than 1,200 local residents, also known as “Project Affected Persons” (PAP). The PAPs receive tailored support through the creation of Local Monitoring Committees (CLS), which liaise with the SAG teams.
Completion is scheduled for the end of 2024.
