Infrastructure resilience in OccitaniaAnalysis of resilience to climate change
Le projet
Climate change poses new challenges for SNCF Réseau’s infrastructure. This phenomenon is characterized not only by sudden extreme events, but also by far-reaching changes in local climatic variables, which have a growing impact on the strength of materials in particular. SNCF Réseau, supported by Cerema, has therefore begun an analysis of the physical and functional vulnerabilities of the national network, particularly on the lines most subject to hazards.
The Occitanie network is already subject to extreme weather events. Faced with this situation, an analysis of the vulnerability of the Mediterranean arc network to climatic hazards is necessary in order to develop the field knowledge of SNCF Réseau teams, identify potential areas of fragility, and anticipate priority investments.
Nos missions
setec, in association with Risk Weather Tech, a consultancy firm specializing in climate risk management, is carrying out an analysis of the vulnerability of the Mediterranean arc network to climatic hazards, applying the methodology developed by Cerema.
The study is divided into two stages:
Analysis of the network’s physical and functional vulnerabilities, by modeling the evolution of potentially impacting climatic events and identifying their impact on network components and infrastructures.
Identification of adaptation solutions to address network vulnerabilities while maintaining a high level of operation.
