In 2019, the City of Douala adopted a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), which proposes the medium-term construction of a network of 49 km of BRT lines. Two corridors with a total length of 28km have been identified as priorities and are already being studied.
The success of this project presupposes improved feeder conditions on BRT corridors. The PMUS therefore calls for the restructuring of urban bus services to improve their level of service (speed, frequency, etc.) and ensure complementarity with BRT services.
The aim is to identify the roads concerned and design the facilities needed to improve the level of service for the BRT services identified. The study also covers infrastructure dedicated to formal and informal public transport and to non-motorized modes of transport.
The aim of the assignment is to produce preliminary and APD level studies in order to draw up tender documents for the works considered as priorities.
At the same time, the study will address the following issues:
- summary assessment of social and environmental impacts, as well as socio-economic analysis of all investments
- a study of the constraints and recommendations for the implementation of an integrated fare and ticketing system for public transport in Douala.
