Dakar multimodal modelDevelopment of the conurbation's transport model
Client : CETUD (Conseil Executif Des Transports Urbains De Dakar)
Le projet
Since 1997 and the creation of CETUD, the city has embarked on a vast overhaul of its overall urban transport system: programs to renew the existing fleet are already underway, and the introduction of new capacity modes is planned for the coming years.
The TER, scheduled for launch in 2020, is a suburban express train project linking central Dakar with the new hub of Diamniadio and, later, with the new airport. The BRT, scheduled for 2022, will complete Dakar’s future public transport system.
This assignment involves developing a 4-stage multimodal model for the Dakar metropolitan area, suitable for testing future urban development and mobility strategies.
Nos missions
The multimodal model is being developed in 3 main phases:
-
- a methodological phase in which existing data are analyzed, additional data collected and all methodological options discussed. The development of the model will be based in particular on the exhaustive use of the Household Travel Survey recently carried out by CETUD.
-
- The second phase is the calibration and validation phase. The 4-stage model architecture will handle trip chains and base its modal choice module on joint revealed and stated preference data. The model developed in TransCAD will feature a GIS interface.
-
- In the final phase, the model is used to test various urbanization and transport development scenarios. The model will be implemented at CETUD, whose staff have been trained in the use of TransCAD.
